Original call for help:

I really genuinely have no idea how to come out as nonbinary to my parents

Like, how do I explain it so that they understand? They don’t really know even very basic things about trans stuff

and it’s such a steep learning curve

So um

Help?

I would really appreciate any input at all that nonbinary (and binary too, but specifically nonbinary) trans people have in coming out to people.

This is a tumblr for non-binary people to acknowledge and address issues with intersections in the community. Right now it seems like the biggest problem is appropriation, but there may be other problems that come up as well. This may also address concerns that aren't privilege related, but are problems within the community.

Binary people who have faced privilege denying specific to non-binary people (Ex. a white non-binary person using a racial slur is something that, sadly, white people of all genders can do. A non-binary appropriating a word from another culture that describes a "third gender"* is not) are welcome, encouraged even, to submit their experiences- however you must respect the genders of non-binary people. Binarist and anti-trans sentiments are not allowed here. No bigotry of any kind is allowed on this blog. (except in the form of addressing that it is bigotry)

The moderator will do nims best to communicate your experiences to address the problem without the binarism, but binarist submissions/asks will not be published.
